When the going gets tough….

….the tough get going. That is our new slogan at Texas Envelope Company for 2009. These are tough times so for us to survive we are going to have to be better than our competition. If you want to survive in tough times, hard work and creative thinking will get you there. For example, we had a job for Acura recently. 5 3/4 x 8 3/4 booklet envelope on 100# opaque, printed solid black double bump. When we folded the envelopes they cracked on the scores and folds. We came up with a great idea. Run the envelopes thru the press upside down so that the score is on the top (print side). Then run them back thru and print a little water on the scores with the inside tint printer and guess what… the cracking was minimal. We could have given up and blamed bad paper or print but we came up with a soulution that helped us and our customer. That is what we are all about. Till next time….stay tough!
EMA in Philadelphia

The EMA (Envelope Manufactures Association) will meet next week in Philadelphia. Mike Curtis and myself will attend the meetings Thursday thru Sunday. One Point Software will be there demonstrating their dynamic new envelope specific software. Papercone, the industry leader in Tyvek, expansion and specialty envelopes will be there as well. We look forward to the meeting so that we can learn how to become a better direct mail envelope company. Hope to see you there!
September 2008…Its go time!

Well its that time of year again. When business gets crazy and we in the envelope industry are moving fast and furious to keep up with demand. We just finished a really nice envelope job for Hickory Farms. These envelopes were 4cp on 70# gloss stock, size 8 3/4 x 11 1/2 with a special window. They have full heavy coverage and 12 versions. The envelopes turned out great and the pictures of the food looked good enough to eat! We have done some really cool envelopes this year especially more envelopes with large windows and double windows. This seems to be a trend we are seeing more and more of in the direct mail industry. For those who dont know I have 4 year old boy-girl twins. Cole (boy) and Morgan (girl). They had their first soccer game this weekend. Cole scored 3 goals and Morgan scored 1. I was so proud being the coach and all! Have a great week!
